Our 4-hour tour will take you to the northern end of the lagoon where you can experience areas of industry, history and architecture.
Murano, island of glass, is home to the best glass factory in Venice. The city is world renowned for its ornate glass-work, known as Venetian glass, full of colour, vibrancy and is elaborate and skilfully made. On our tour you will be able to visit a master glassmaker’s studio and view stunning pieces of work. Items are available for purchase should you want to buy a keepsake.
Our tour will visit Burano, the island of lace and fishermen, famous for its colourful houses. Here we will take a walk to the centre of the island and to watch the ancient art of lace making in production. Then it’s on to Torcello, the oldest island in the lagoon and the city’s first settlement. Quiet and sparsely populated, you can walk to the island’s Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, founded in 639. Much of the Byzantine work completed on the cathedral in the 11th and 12th centuries still survive and the cathedral is a beautiful building steeped in history.
